1920s French Distressed Flapper Dress - Black/Faded Black

$480.00
*disclaimer -- I do not know a great deal about the correct terminology for antique dresses, so please bear with me...

1920s flapper style dress found in France. Incredible 'striped' and semi-translucent, sheer fabric. Dress is comprised of two distinct layers, though they are sewn together at the sleeve openings and collar and cannot be separated. Base layer seems to be made of silk, with the outer, striped/sheer layer some sort of partially synthetic blend. At this time, synthetic fabrics were part of the luxury market by-and-large. Dress has two snap pockets at the waist, and has snap closures at the chest and hook and eye closures at the body of the interior layer. Minor holes and distressing throughout with one large hole on the left sleeve near the cuff. Overall in great condition for it's 100+ year-old age. The fading and distressing adds some great character and edge to this otherwise distinctly dressy piece. I generally don't purchase womenswear because, frankly, I know very little about it. However, this one was too special to leave behind when I found it in the South of France. Of course, traditionally women's, but entirely unisex. Can be worn as a standalone piece or thrown over other garments. See the on-body shots from our recent photoshoot.
