1940s Russian Telogreika - this was the quintessential winter military garment for the Russian forces over the span of several wars — that’s how well it worked. It is about as utilitarian as a piece of outerwear gets, and it’s incredibly warm. A padded, amateurishly sewn, quilted cotton canvas jacket with button & loop closure. Generally the Telogreika was a military drab, green color. The black version seen here is much rarer, and was reserved for prisoners of war. Teleogreika jackets can be found online — even in black. However, these jackets were produced for decades, and often people pass these later versions are originals. This here is an authentic, 40s version. This version has a standing collar, off centered button closure, and tremendous subtle sun fading. This piece as lightly used, and has signs of wear, but is overall in tremendous condition for its age. Outer fabric is a satin cotton canvas with a softer grey interior. A small strip of fabric used for tightening the cuff came off, and has been attached with a safety pin as can be seen in pictures. Great, versatile piece that works well with multiple styles.
